Our igloo construction in the Allgäu requires technique, creativity, and collaboration. Your business-specific requirement—e.g., team building or process optimization—can be individually focused during igloo construction. Carefully considered and strategically approached, the “Igloo” project must be tackled. In the style of the Inuit, blocks are cut with special snow saws, beveled, and stacked in rings until the final “stone” closes the roof.
Exciting Team Event | Process Optimization | Strategy & Teamwork
Team coordination, careful procedures, and always keeping the goal in sight—the prerequisites for a successful igloo and genuine learning transfer.
Carefully considered and strategically approached, the “Igloo” project must be tackled as a team. Sawing snow blocks to the correct diameter, beveling, and stacking them requires practice and careful execution. After construction, we can compare the various igloos according to criteria such as technique and creativity upon request—making the transfer to everyday business visible.
From the snowshoe hike to searching for the chosen construction site, through concentrated snow block sawing to the final “stone” that closes the vaulted roof—igloo construction is a genuine team structure that stands visibly in the snow at the end. Not infrequently, the most honest conversations of the entire company retreat emerge during this process.
Equipped with snowshoes, we set off, hike through the fascinating winter landscape, and find a chosen spot for igloo building. Carefully considered and strategically approached, the “Igloo” project must then be tackled—stone by stone, closing the vaulted roof.
The standard is the 2–3-hour igloo construction event as an incentive or team event. The event can be expanded upon request into a multi-day business project with business plan and budget (for this extended variant, see Igloo Expedition REAL Outdoor, separate format). Combinable with avalanche rescue, emergency sled construction, or other winter events.
Team coordination, careful procedures, and always keeping the goal in sight—precisely the factors that determine success or failure in every business project. The “Igloo blueprint” becomes a metaphor for process optimization, clear roles, and team strategy. Upon request, we specifically focus on your business-specific requirement.
Our unique locations are situated remotely in the snow-covered winter world of the Allgäu Alps. Both offer mountain lodge romance, fresh regional cuisine, and overnight accommodation upon request.
Berggasthof Rohrmoos is beautifully situated on the northern side of the Alps at an altitude of 1,074 m. Up here, wonderfully pristine nature awaits you. The in-house kitchen uses only fresh products and game from princely hunting grounds. Overnight accommodation is available.
The rustic Wannenkopfhütte near Oberstdorf is situated in a magnificent isolated location at an altitude of 1,350 m with a unique view over the Allgäu Alps. Mulled wine reception in winter, homemade cheese spätzle in a giant pan, mountain lodge romance by the campfire—an atmospheric Allgäu experience is guaranteed here.
Complete equipment included—snowshoes, shovels, professional snow saws, probes for construction plan marking. Plus experienced ICO trainers who explain the Inuit construction technique and conduct the strategic evaluation.
After a brief introduction to snowshoeing, we hike together a short distance through the Allgäu winter landscape. Upon arriving at the igloo construction site, a “quarry” field is selected and prepared depending on snow conditions—if necessary, walked on with snowshoes to compact the snow.
The ICO trainer explains the igloo construction technique: Dig along straight lines using a probe or rope. Standing in the trench, mark and saw in the size of the building blocks with shovels. Horizontally saw free the lower surface until the block settles. Depending on snow depth, 1 or 2 building blocks per section. The blocks are removed, transported, and stacked in rings—until the final stone closes the vaulted roof. A unique igloo has been created—your structure.
Avalanche rescue—genuine winter survival skills: search with avalanche probes and search devices as a team. Systematic approach and strategy are required. (Don’t worry: No one will be buried in the snow.)
Emergency sled construction—cushion an injured person with the simplest means and transport them in an emergency sled. Followed by a short course for testing.
Igloo construction in the Allgäu is business development in the snow: A 2–3-hour team event where strategy, teamwork, and careful procedures become directly tangible. The Inuit construction technique becomes a metaphor for project management—and at the end stands a genuine structure in the snow that your team has created together. Expandable to a multi-day business project or combinable with avalanche or emergency sled modules.
